The Boy Who Cried Wolf Story With Pictures | Aesop’s Fable

A shepherd boy was in charge of looking after a group of sheep. Every early morning he took the sheep to a field near his village. Every evening he brought the sheep back home.

The whole day he watched the sheep to make sure they were not injured or did not wander off and get lost.

One day the shepherd boy started to complain. “I am bored, ” he said. “There is nothing to do but watch these stupid sheep eat grass. Absolutely nothing different ever happens. ” As he observed the sheep eating the tall green grass, he had an idea. What fun it will be to trick the villagers.

He would fake that a wolf was attacking the flock of sheep.

“Wolf! Wolf! ” he yelled. The villagers came running along with pitchforks as well as clubs to drive off the wolf. When they came there was no wolf. There was only the naughty shepherd boy having a laugh his head off.

Over and over, the shepherd boy called wolf. Again and again the villagers came. Every time there was no wolf.

Finally, one day, a hungry wolf crept up on the group. When the shepherd boy noticed the wolf, started to scream, “Wolf! Wolf! ”

He shouted and yelled, however nobody came. The villagers thought the boy was up to his old tricks, so they ignored his calls. The wolf killed sheep after sheep before the boy finally drove it away.

The shepherd boy finally learn the lesson that no one believes a liar even when he is telling the truth.
