Corduroy, the teddy bear who never gave up hope of finding a home

Corduroy was a teddy bear who lived in the toy department of a department store. He had been waiting for a child to take him home for a long time, but no one had ever chosen him. He was missing a button on his overalls, and he was starting to feel lonely and forgotten.

One day, a little girl named Lisa came into the store with her mother. Lisa saw Corduroy and immediately fell in love with him. She ran over to him and hugged him tightly.

“I love you, Corduroy,” she said. “I’m going to take you home with me.”

Lisa’s mother said no. She said that they had already spent too much money, and besides, Corduroy was missing a button.

Lisa was disappointed, but she didn’t give up. She came back to the store every day after that, hoping that her mother would change her mind.

One night, after the store was closed, Corduroy was feeling very sad. He was all alone, and he didn’t know if he would ever be loved. He climbed up onto the counter and looked out the window. He saw a little girl playing in the park, and he wished that he could be with her.

Suddenly, the store lights came on. Lisa had come back! She climbed up onto the counter and hugged Corduroy tightly.

“I’ve saved up my money,” she said. “I’m going to buy you.”

Corduroy was so happy! He was finally going to have a home. Lisa took him home and sewed the button on his overalls. Corduroy was the happiest bear in the world. He had found a friend who loved him just the way he is.

The next day, Lisa took Corduroy to the park. They played together all day long. Corduroy was so happy to finally have a friend to play with.

At the end of the day, Lisa took Corduroy home. She tucked him into bed and read him a story. Corduroy was so tired from all the playing that he fell asleep right away.

Corduroy and Lisa were best friends from that day on. They played together every day, and Corduroy was always happy to be with Lisa. He knew that he was loved, and that was all that mattered.

Moral: Friendship is more important than perfection. This teaches children that it is important to accept others for who they are, flaws and all.
